Why play tennis?

If you are new to the game, there are lots of reasons to start playing tennis. Have a read below to find out a little more about the sport.... you'll be on court before you know it!

You can play whatever your age.

Maybe you're wanting some more quality time with the kids. Or you've retired and are looking for a way to stay active. Tennis is one of those few sports you can play at any age.

It's a great way to get fit.

If you want to try an activity that's good exercise and great fun, tennis is your answer. You can burn lots of calories whilst socialising with friends and learning a new skill. Most of the time you won't even notice that you're doing exercise at all! You can burn 700 calories an hour playing tennis!

Tennis is a great way to make friends.

It also keeps you in touch with old ones too. Maybe you have just moved into the area and looking to meet new people, or you don't know anybody else who plays tennis. Or it could just be a good excuse to meet up with a friend and have a chat over the net! Whichever way, tennis is a great way of bringing people together.

Cardio Tennis

Cardio Tennis is a series of tennis based drills and activities played to up-tempo music on a tennis court. It does not require tennis skills but is all about keeping your heart rate up, burning calories and having fun! Whether the ball goes in or out its irrelevant as the main purpose is to get fit.

There are drills for the absolute beginner through to advanced players, all of which provide you with a great cardio workout while improving a skill. Cardio Tennis is more fun than working out in the gym or other forms of exercise. Music is played during the session to help create a high energy atmosphere for added motivation. You can wear heart rate monitors to see exactly how many calories you are burning.
